Data/Performance Analyst

Rydex Investments, a leading financial services firm located in Rockville, MD, has an opportunity for an Data/Performance Analyst. Responsibilities include:   Oversee the daily and nightly procedures that obtain, store, and process market and portfolio data. This includes maintaining the databases and all the documentation associated with the procedures. Ensure data integrity across different systems, and validate accuracy of data calculations. Work with Information Technology team and data vendors to automate existing and new data feeds for use by the Investment Management team. Work with Performance Analyst and support report generation on the performance of Rydex funds and its competitors. Serve as a backup for the position of Performance Analyst. Play an important role in creating and running periodic performance and attribution reports. Assist the research analysts and portfolio managers to gather and analyze financial data, calculate portfolio characteristics, and advance the understanding we have about our products. Respond to ad hoc data requests from the Investment Management team, Sales, and Marketing. Over time, the Data Analyst will take on more responsibility in driving and proactively updating the entire data collection process for the Investment Management Department. Qualifications include (but are not limited to):   Undergraduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years experience and a strong interest in working in the investment management industry. Strong technical skills (MS Access, Excel macros). Experience with databases (SQL) or programming languages (Visual Basic, SAS), is a strong plus. Experience with large projects involving large datasets is desirable. Detail Oriented. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Ability to manage a variety of ongoing projects. Desire to become a key member of the investment management area by ensuring our IT processes are robust.
