Database Support Engineer

Database Support Engineer The Database Support Engineer is an integral member of the Systems & Operations (S&O) organization and is responsible for performing administrative and operational support for all databases.  The Database Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring database security, availability and performance.  The Database Support Engineer works with all functional areas in a matrix organization to plan, test and implement database modifications.



Qualifications:5+ years database administration, database design and database development experience with SQL Server in an on-line service environment.  10+ years IT industry experience in a distributed Windows Server/Virtual environment with large storage technologies.  Thorough understanding of Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 (enterprise and standard editions) and Windows 2003 Server in a replicated environment.  Strong understanding of MS SQL 2000/2005 security, MS SQL 2000/2005 performance monitoring and optimization techniques, indexes, constraints, transactions, file groups, stored procedures, triggers, cursors, locking, queue tuning, and replication.  Ability to plan, test, and implement the safe modification of a production database environment during software upgrade cycles.  A strong understanding of MS SQL 2000/2005 backup and disaster recovery techniques.  Knowledge of Web Technologies (XML or HTML).  Knowledge of SQL Reporting Services.  Strong written and verbal communication skills; organized and delivery focused. Self motivated and highly team oriented.  Ability to act as a team lead with projects.  Strong customer service orientation and commitment to superior quality standards.  Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent experience. Microsoft Training and Certification desired.
