Director/AVP - SEC Reporting

Major Purpose of Job

Responsible for assisting the VP of SEC Reporting in coordinating, directing, planning and executing all external financial reporting initiatives including developing and implementing external financial reporting processes. In addition, this position will assist the VP on all US accounting, reporting and process issues.

 

Essential Job Functions

· Assist in managing the entire SEC reporting process including data analysis, integrity, and submission.

· Review all information and data which is included in the 10K, 10Q and Earnings Release for accuracy.

· Support and advise the general ledger team in the generation and preparation of periodic external financial reporting requirements and lead in preparing draft financial reporting packages for senior management and board members.

· Monitor and revise policies and procedures as needed to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over external financial reporting.

· Evaluate new accounting rules and regulations to assess impact on financial reporting processes and the effect on NASDAQ.  Prepare accounting write-up.

· Prepare accounting write-ups on all technical accounting transactions to ensure applicable accounting guidance is followed and serve as a summary of the transaction for future reference.

 

Unique Aspects of the Job Function

A high level of expertise and a solid knowledge of accounting theory, current accounting standards, financial statement preparation and SEC reporting.  Complete up-to-date familiarity with accounting issues and SEC reporting requirements is a necessity.  Ability to propose innovative solutions to

accounting and procedural problems and a mature, authoritative presence to be able to represent the Finance Department to Senior Management as well as to external auditors.

 

Education/Experience Requirements

BS degree in Accounting.  CPA required with 10-15 years of hands on finance/accounting experience, including 7 years SEC reporting experience and at least 2 years of public accounting experience. Demonstrated high level knowledge of financial reporting processes/systems and internal controls.  Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word, knowledge of Access.  Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial Suite.
