Job Description:The Director is responsible for ensuring the payroll & benefits accounting administrative environment operates in accordance with generally accepted levels of financial control. The position plays a key role in enforcing establishment of accounting procedures and internal controls (including functions segregated to ensure proper control) around environmental changes resulting from corporate and HR business initiatives. The area performs critical managerial accounting functions required to ensure that asset, liability, and expense transactions generated from the payroll & benefits environment are properly recorded in the company's general ledger. Specifically, the Director will lead the efforts of the accounting team responsible for the following key financial controls: Prepare and review monthly journal entries to ensure that the company's general ledger properly reflects activity related to payroll, commissions, benefits, and tax activities. Reconcile monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for over 450 payroll, commissions, benefits, and tax related accounts. Complete the formal quarterly BSA process where the status of all balance sheet accounts is reviewed with senior management as a basis for their formal sign-off to the Company Controller. This effort includes an evaluation of open balances, roll-up of that evaluation into management reports for distribution, and a facilitating a review session with senior management. This effort requires highly refined analytical skills and business judgment as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing while meeting tight deadlines. Monitor systematic activity posted by the various human resources systems to ensure all activity is posted accurately, completely, and timely.
Job Requirements: BS degree in Accounting or Finance and 7 - 10 years of public accounting and/or internal audit experience; CPA is a plus;Experience with payroll/commissions/benefits accounting in the insurance industry is a plus;Exceptional communicator with a strong professional presence and interpersonal skills;Ability to quickly and clearly consolidate detailed information into executive management reports.
