Director of Practice Plan

The Director of Practice Plan for the Department of Surgery in the Office of Financial Affairs is responsible for budget-related processes, monthly updates, revisions, and forecasts. Maintaining general ledger accounts, journal entries in the financial accounting system, monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing and reporting activities. Preparing financial reports and account analysis. Reporting and analysis, preparing account reconciliations, including written budget to actual variance analysis reports. Providing analytical support by creating and analyzing financial reports related to clinical activities (cash flows, P&L, forecast, account analysis). Add hoc reports when doing budget. Responsibility for month-end closing. Preparing divisional quarterly financial reports to illustrate financial performance. Researching and reporting clinical revenues and expenses. Researching and reporting network revenues and NYPH pass-through funding. Assisting in preparation of long-range business plans for new providers. Preparing B1 schedule quarterly for inclusion in department financial statements. Approving change orders for purchasing department, exemption forms for AP as needed, accounting for casuals, accounting for advertisement charges for new employees. Preparing departmental dashboard report on a monthly basis and assisting in the review with Divisional administrators and Division chiefs.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five (5) years of related experience.


Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with complex information systems, understanding of managerial accounting and finance principles, including practice management. Strong computer skills, excellent organizational ability, and strong written and oral communication skills required.
