Director of Web Strategy

Position Overview:
Upromise, Inc., a Newton-based company dedicated to helping America’s families save and pay for college, is currently seeking a Director of Web Strategy to be responsible for helping develop Upromise’ overall web strategy, and guiding and managing the optimal execution of strategic and tactical initiatives on the web. 

 

This position reports directly to the VP of Web Strategy and will directly manage a team of 3-5 people, including a Content Manager and Business Analysts.

 Web Strategy Development

· Identify untapped sources of value

· Develop projects/initiatives designed to capture that value, and

· Help develop and implement a strategic plan for optimally deploying Upromise’ web interfaces to drive desired business objectives

 Project Planning and Prioritization

· Identifying Business Needs/Opportunities- work across various functional areas in marketing to identify needs, determine the business cases required to initiate web projects, and document requirements

· Research Design & Analysis- determine gaps in current knowledge that prevent optimal decision-making, help design research and analyses to fill gaps, and generate strategic implications

· Project Assessment and Prioritization- help determine the relative priority and sequencing of web projects, determine resulting level of support from Web Strategy team, and coordinate with IT, external vendors, etc. to ensure timely execution

· Personnel Management- allocate internal personnel and vendors to supported initiatives, and make adjustments as necessary

 Project Leadership and Execution

· Community- lead Upromise community building efforts – both on Upromise websites and 3rd-party sites

· Ongoing Project Support- provide input, guidance, and support to help execute a select number of web initiatives throughout the year

 

Minimum Requirements:BS/BA in Computer Science, Business or equivalent and 3-5+ years experience as a Business Analyst within in a web-centric environment.Strong understanding of web usability and heuristics.Demonstrated experience and passion for web strategy, design and development Experience with Web development methodologies, life cycles, and best practicesFamiliarity with change management and continuous business improvement best practices Ability to propose specific, targeted web marketing programs based on achieving desired consumer experiences Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task Internet/relationship/database marketing, personalization methods and best practices Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with strong project management capabilities

Knowledge and ExperienceIdeally this individual will have approximately 5 to 10 years experience in building, managing, and/or consulting a leading-edge Web driven business.  An in-depth understanding of online financial services businesses with regard to leading-edge competitors, new technologies, the latest presentation techniques, and reconfiguring content for distribution to various  Web-enabled devices.A genuine interest in higher education and the growing costs associated with earning an advanced degree Experience in hiring, developing, and motivating small teams with a mix of technical, design and analytical skillsProven ability to conduct ongoing analysis of current performance, with the goal of continuous improvement of acquisition, retention, and growth of member relationships
