About PLANCO
PLANCO LLC, a Hartford Life, Inc. company, was founded in 1977 by Joe M. Thomson, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®, and Edwin J. Gold, CLU®, as a distributor-wholesaler of consumer oriented products designed to help people plan for their retirement years. John P. Craig, CFP®, joined the partnership the following year. Together, these three men had more than 85 combined years in the industry.
From those beginnings, PLANCO grew by marketing superior products and offering exceptional support to help financial service organizations become more effective sales organizations.
PLANCO’s business model is uniquely effective. Through a national network of more than 300 wholesalers, the company works in tandem with investment representatives to create effective sales strategies that make sense in today’s market. Realizing that different organizations have different distribution characteristics, PLANCO divides its wholesalers into separate channels to provide an unparalleled level of service and coverage. These wholesalers bring marketing expertise to the field with office meetings, client seminars and individual representative visits.
PLANCO offers investment representatives both pre- and post-sales support by:
§ Aiding them in their prospecting efforts with sales ideas, via print materials and on the Web.
§ Facilitating the sales process between investment representatives and their clients by creating and providing client-approved marketing materials.
§ Maintaining a well-trained, knowledgeable and courteous internal phone force capable of handling anything, from the simplest requests to the most complicated questions.
PLANCO also brings its entire employee force together each week for what has become a
company tradition: Friday morning meetings. These meetings function as an effective means of ensuring all employees are up-to-date on sales results, marketing efforts, and company news. Armed with this information, employees are able to more effectively serve our sales force.
In 1998, PLANCO became a part of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., thus expanding the resources available to investment representatives – and building on its well-established reputation for exceptional customer service and industry expertise. As the #1 seller of retail variable annuities in the U.S. and Japan, and with eight consecutive DALBAR awards for annuity customer service, The Hartford shares PLANCO’s core values.
“We have worked together to make PLANCO an environment in which people can do what they love to do, work hard at what they do, believe in what they do – and get rewarded for it,” says Kevin Connor, Managing Director at PLANCO. “With the wealth of available opportunities, training and support, an employee’s first job at PLANCO can be just the beginning of a satisfying career.”
