External Sales Consultant

SUMMARY

Establish and develop relationships with broker/dealer representatives and other third party relationships as assigned. Responsible for new asset growth and meeting or exceeding retention objections.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

§ Must believe in the services we provide.

§ Must be subject matter expert (SME) on all our services.

§ Responsible for sales of  all Meeder Advisory Services to reps/brokers/financial advisors with whom we have selling agreements for assigned territory.

§ Responsible for developing and executing an annual strategic sales plan for assigned territory in order to meet annual sales goals.

§ Service current selling reps/brokers/financial advisors or ensure we meet our retention objectives.

§ Work with industry partners in developing business plan, asset gathering strategies and conduct presentations and sales meetings.Responsible for assigned territory management:

§ Individual travel and expense budget

§ Fullfillment activity and expenses

§ Scheduling meetings efficiently/effectively.Maintaining and reporting pipeline, meetings, and client and prospective client information in Sugar/CRM database.Works with internal wholesaler to research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.Attends industry conferences as assigned.

 

 Industry Knowledge

§ Responsible to be aware of developments within the industry so that the company can make the necessary adjustments to continue to compete successfully.

§ Responsible to continually expand knowledge in a manner which would enhance performance.

 

 

 SKILLS & ATTITUDES REQUIRED

 

Ability to travel 60-80% of the time

NASD Series 6 or 7 licensed, 65 preferred

Hungry - “fire in the belly”

Ability to work within budget - tracking & controlling expenses

Ability to recognize opportunities

Problem solving abilities

Outstanding at follow-up

Team Player

Exercise good judgment

Strong background in wholesaling financial products & services

Strong knowledge of 401(k) plans

Excellent territory management skills

Proven track record in developing relationships

Strong presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills

Ability/willingness to deliver presentations

Good organizational skills

Good listening and questioning skills to aid in identifying opportunities and provide solutions

Ability to work independently and be responsible for tracking & controlling expenses

Ability to efficiently manage time

Ability to “close the deal” and build relationships

Ability to plan and travel 14 days or more in advance

 

Must be proficient in:

Sugar/CRM, Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint software programs
