Financial Analyst Postion

We are currently looking to fill a Financial Analyst position supporting the Global Data Products business in Rockville, Maryland.

 

This position is responsible for supporting the overall business unit financial control and management, including: budgeting, forecasting, closing the monthly books, and assisting in ad hoc projects.  This requires frequent interaction with department managers throughout the business unit, the entire Finance organization, and may include members of the senior management team.  The position will work closely with the Finance Director for Global Data Products and will support all finance activities, with an initial  focus on expenses and product profitability.  Essential job functions:

 

• Support all aspects of the business unit’s financial management and control, including annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, monthly closing of the books, and product profitability

 

• Analyze variances, performance against budget, trends, risks and opportunities, key drivers and sensitivities. Highlight significant operational performance issues to management and recommend actions

 

• Facilitate the communication and interaction with department managers on all aspects of their financials, including performance against budget, updating forecasts

 

• Ensure accuracy of financial results, including monitoring invoice payments, and preparing expense accruals.  Collaborate with accounting and finance staff throughout the company to review and resolve issues

 

• Support the Finance Director of Global Data Products in all areas, and participate in special projects as required

 

Requirements

 

• BS degree in Finance or Accounting (or equivalent work experience).  MBA or CPA a plus.

• Four to six years of related experience, financial services industry experience preferred. Advanced degree may count towards part of the experience requirement.

• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and monthly close processes, as well as generally accepted accounting principles.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent analytical skills.

• In-depth knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint and in house financial systems (Hyperion, Essbase, PeopleSoft)
