Financial Control Manager
Job Summary
Has accountability for all assigned functions and client relationships. Independently manages assigned client conversions/mergers; actively participates in staff development rotations; participates in the implementation and design of new procedures/policies; key liaison on Audit reviews (internal/external). Defines and executes tactical workflow strategies and plans to deliver service and participates in long-term planning. Promotes staff training, recognition and retention. Provides direction to optimize the appropriate tools and skill sets required to increase productivity within the team. Initiates and leads a floor-wide projects to improve Control’s processes or environment. Provides assistance and support outside the assigned team as needed.
Principal Responsibilities
· Supervises assigned personnel. Plans, allocates, and monitors work, and makes decisions regarding employment, performance reviews, training and development, salary recommendations, and related personnel actions.
· Ensures associates receive necessary training and development by identifying ongoing training and development opportunities. Review associate feedback on formal training classes with training manager.
· Conduct monthly staff meetings and one-on-one’s, recognizes associates contribution/efforts and completes/delivers yearly Performance Appraisals in a timely manner. Documents, establishes, monitors and/or realigns ‘Smart Goals’ for all staff members.
· Interfaces with operations groups to coordinate wire approval and to provide State Street Bank with verbal release information. Coordinates new fund implementations with systems, custodian, and operations.
· Maintain positive relationship with clients, DST, Custody and Fund Accounting as well as all levels of BFDS Operating and Support groups.
· Monitors daily activity to assess and ensure compliance with audit/regulatory requirements.
· Reviews and revises control policies and procedures, escalating items to management for approval. Promotes efficiencies within the team.
· Senior source on complex Cash Reconciliations, Dividend and Commission items. Takes overt actions to minimize open items.
· Leads and documents formal project plan to improve Control’s processes, workflow’s or environment. Documentation to include project overview/definition, key components, milestones and measurements of success.
· Independently manages assigned client conversions and mergers by maintaining open communication with both internal and external partners.

Job Qualifications
Knowledge
· Detailed knowledge of Control functions and working knowledge of the DST systems as well as Control policies and procedures.
· In-depth knowledge of assigned clients products, applications and procedures.
· Working knowledge of Boston Financial Operating and Support groups, Custody and Fund Accounting.
Skills and Abilities

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in order to exchange information with management, staff, and various external entities to explain policies and corporate guidelines, and to present recommendations to upper management.

· Strong customer service orientation for both internal and external customers.
· Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience required.
· Approximately 12 months satisfactory performance as a Control Team Leader or comparable position (equivalent to 4-5 years of Control-related experience)
