Financial Operations Analyst, Senior

Perform a variety of routine and non-routine accounting activities in support of the department in accordance with company policies and procedures. Represent Financial Operations and Reporting requirements related to all company initiatives.

1. Verify accounting data being systematically interfaced from various administration systems balances to actual data received in the general ledger and document.
2. Report any differences encountered, determine course of action to correct, and document outcome accordingly.
3. Notify Financial Reporting as all interfaced accounting entries have been imported and balanced for the month.
4. Review and post manual accounting entries received from business units and document.
5. Analyze the forced balancing error account, research why interfaced batches required a forced balanced entry, correct and document accordingly.
6. Research and recommend solutions for process improvement and increased accuracy of financial data.
7. Define test scripts to validate Reporting requirements will be met due to company initiatives, execute test scripts, validate test results to required results and document accordingly.
8. Design, implement and monitor medium to complex departmental projects to achieve objectives.
9. Assess current systems and processes, provide background research and analysis, and develop business recommendations and solutions.
10. Function as a specialist in the day to day operations of the Department.
11. Generate value added project ideas.

Other Duties:
1. Maintain organized and complete documentation related to all duties and coordinate on and off sight retention needs.
2. Maintain procedures followed to perform daily, weekly and monthly balancing activities.
3. As the business changes, assess each situation and make recommendations on how to ensure accurate accounting data is being received in the general ledger.
4. Provide clerical support to other Financial Operations and Reporting related projects.
5. Other duties as assigned.

7. Troubleshoot system problems with IT support, department staff and business units and seek solutions.
8. Troubleshoot inconsistent accounting issues with department staff and business units and seek solutions.
9. Assist with staff training and development.

 Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting, or equivalent experience.
 3+ years of accounting experience in the insurance industry.
 Specific understanding of accounting concepts.
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and accounting systems.
 Proven organizational and communication skills.
 Effective time management skills; ability to work independently.
 Specific understanding of accounting transactions associated with Annuity products.
 Attention to detail.
 Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
 Ability to anticipate issues and think independently; see the big picture.
 Proficient knowledge of software used (Crystal Reports, EAS General Ledger Microsoft Excel and Word)
