Summary of Essential Duties

The Financial Planner position supports the company in all aspects of the financial planning process, including the analysis and calculations needed to develop comprehensive financial plans for new clients and provide services to existing clients.

 

Financial Planning Responsibilities

· Prepare for and conduct client meetings in person and by phone

· Collect and analyze data

· Determine client needs

· Prepare and deliver high level written analysis and recommendations based on clients’ goals and objectives

· Record all oral and written communication and maintain files in compliance with all firm, state, and regulatory bodies

· Create action plans

· Implement plan elements

· Follow up to provide promised services and activities resulting from client meetings

· Communicate with clients periodically as appropriate

· Perform Quality Control over financial planning and planning process

· Work under principal’s direction, maintaining philosophies and procedures of company

 

Business Development

· Acquire and nurture new client relationships

· Service existing clients as assigned by principal

 

Maintain Cutting-Edge Financial Planning Capabilities

· Maintain or exceed continuing education requirements of a Certified Financial Planner designee

· Identify financial planning resources that will improve the firm and its services

· Evaluate new software to enhance planning capabilities

· Present enhanced planning procedures for company approval

· Develop client/prospect communication materials and systems

· Evaluate and advocate improvements to the systems and processes used to develop and deliver services to clients

 

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree

· Completion of CFP® coursework and intention to obtain CFP® designation

· Demonstrated financial planning knowledge through industry experience in a dedicated planning position exceeding 4 years, emphasizing investment, tax, retirement, estate, education, and risk management planning

· Advanced PC capabilities, extensive knowledge of existing financial planning software and propensity to thoroughly master new programs; thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office imperative; familiarity with financial planning software preferred

· Stay abreast of developments, trends, practices and legalities in the financial planning industry

· Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

· Outstanding professional/personal references

· Must seek training to maintain the highest level of competency within the workplace
