Basic Purpose:

Build and maintain company's brand, products and positive perception among public, largely through interaction with media.



 

Primary Responsibilities: Develop and execute strategies to heighten visibility and positive image of company through media. Promote products and specific areas of company's expertise through media exposure. Manage issues and crisis communications as necessary. Announce new products/programs/executives/initiatives/acquisitions. Serve as spokesperson, respond to incoming inquiries from the media/public. Organize internal/external events to communicate firm's expertise/strategy as appropriate. Conduct media tours either individually or with managers in major media markets Evaluate/recommend sponsorship opportunities, e.g., WGBH; produce related necessary materials. Provide media training and interview prep for portfolio managers, executives Represent firm at various industry conferences attended by the media, e.g., ICI, Morningstar, Schwab. Monitor news coverage of company, provide regular summary and analysis. Conduct research on news coverage of industry issues/trends as needed. Foster and maintain relationship with Morningstar analysts covering firm's funds, initiate and execute regular visits. Cultivate positive relationships with press responsible for industry coverage through T & E and other means. Oversee public relations staff.

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree Minimum of 10 years’ related experience In-depth knowledge of the mutual fund industry as well as the organization's products and services Strong and demonstrated speaking and writing skills Strong existing relationships with major media covering investments/financial services
