Investment Accountant

Job Purpose:

Supports investment operations by maintaining, verifying, and updating investment records; preparing tax returns.

Duties:

* Balances schedule D for all companies by comparing general ledger balances to asset management schedule D.

* Verifies investment transactions by reviewing and correcting transactions.

* Maintains accounting ledgers by preparing cash transaction entries for general ledger.

* Maintains filing system by compiling daily activity reports, bank reports, wire transfer payments, electronic payments, and tax payments.

* Maintains special market accounts by ensuring compliance with procedures for safekeeping, maintenance, and control of special market collateral; executing and maintaining investment accounts; maintaining records and control of investment accounts; completing accounting functions.

* Maintains control disbursement system by downloading exceptions related to checks; researching and obtaining approvals for checks over dollar limit and "no issues"; determining payment action; notifying bank via electronic system.

* Controls investment interface by ensuring that accounts have been set up and approved prior to interface being submitted to the general ledger.

* Verifies accounting transactions and reports by reviewing and controlling accounting activities, including generally accepted accounting practices changes to investment accounting practices.

* Completes investment reports for tax return preparation by completing required information.

* Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
