Java Intern Front End Systems (Summer)

CME Group is a combined entity formed by the 2007 merger of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). We are the largest and most diverse futures and options exchange, covering all major asset classes. Three quarters of our trading volume comes from trades made electronically on our CME Globex electronic trading platform. The Front End Systems Technology Group (FEST) is comprised of customer focused-teams in the following areas: Market Data, Metrics and Monitoring, Order entry and Order Routing, Trading Floor Technologies, Price Reporting, Front-end Trading technologies, support of the various CME websites including CMEGroup.com, E-Data applications such as E-Quotes and E-History and CME Portal. The collaborative efforts of FEST provides value by developing innovative tools for both internal and external stakeholders and successfully facilitating and managing full life-cycle implementation of all the systems. The FEST group is currently seeking a summer intern to assist in developing database applications written primarily in Java and running on the Linux platform. This is a full-time summer internship however there is some flexibility with the hours.

Description: The candidate will be working in the Front End Systems Technology group with a focus on developing highly multi-threaded, high-speed messaging and database applications written primarily in Java and running on the Linux platform. The candidate will need to work with developers, the application lead, system architects and the project manager to develop the desired applications within the project timeline. In addition, the candidate will be expected to work with the Quality Assurance team to test the applications as well as to work with the Production Support Group and the Globex Control Center personnel to deploy applications and to troubleshoot applications after deployment.

Requirements
