Jr. Research Associate

Location: Atlanta, GA Reference Code: 0800395 Job Summary: Under general supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training or certification to provide analytical and administrative support to Equity Analysts and Research Associates, including collection, organization, and analysis of market and financial data, development of financial projections and valuation spreadsheets, as well as other related functions as designated.  Detailed instructions and established procedures and prescribed guidelines are provided to perform a variety of tasks requiring minimal evaluation, originality or ingenuity in making routine decisions.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Maintains computer databases covering industry and related companies as well as contact database. Assists in development of financial models for: revenue and income forecasts, cash flow analysis, balance sheet, quarterly projections, and valuation and comparative analysis. Gathers and synthesize critical data from relevant sources in support of both ongoing research projects and timely comments. Performs general office duties including phone coverage, faxing, typing, photocopying and filing. Assists the Equity Analysts and Research Associates in laying the groundwork for industry and company-specific reports. Works with Equity Research editing staff to facilitate publication of research reports. Handles customer and interoffice requests. Maintains the confidentiality of company and client information. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of research. Fundamental investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry. Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations. Financial markets and products.   Skill in: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Analytical and quantitative skills sufficient to assess and explain events in the market. Problem solving skills and the ability to think independently sufficient to market ideas and assist Financial Advisors. Operating standard office equipments and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets with Microsoft Office and established databases.Ability to: Gather information, identify linkages and trends and apply findings to reports. Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation. Remain cognizant of our commitment to daily workflow and regulatory compliance during high volume activity. Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
