Land Use Project Manager
Infrastructure Management & Development Group (IMD), a division of Berlin Atlantic Capital US, LLC, is conducting a search for the Land Use Project Manager to support the rapid expansion of its U.S. operations.
Berlin Atlantic Capital US, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is the domestic operations of a German based investment company specializing in alternative investments in the US real estate, infrastructure, telecommunications and insurance derivatives markets.
Position Overview
The successful candidate for this position will provide support for managing land use initiatives, including building and sustaining strategic relationships with public interest groups, community leaders, government officials, and other, key constituencies of IMD under the supervision of the Vice President of Development. The Land Use Project Manager will contribute to the overall real estate development mission and vision for multiple projects and serve as a key member of the IMD management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare the Land Use portion of project approval packages;
· Prepare the Land Use Portion of project schedules;
· Prepare the Land Use and local government sections of the project budgets;
· Assist and advise the CEO and Associate Counsel of Infrastructure on Political Action Committee items;
· Analyze impact of existing zoning codes, ordinances, community plans, and other regulations on proposed projects;
· Make recommendations to pursue or abandon projects;
· Prepare and file zoning applications;
· Represent IMD at zoning hearings, community and other land-use meetings as required;
· Support the CEO and Infrastructure Counsel by providing the client with information and assistance in all phases of state and local government affairs;
· Interact with members of the site development team (i.e. site acquisition specialists, construction team, leasing specialists, site development management) to assure progress and attainment of zoning goals;
· Perform research regarding the zoning and permitting codes and regulatory approval process for specific jurisdictions to assure the accuracy of the zoning database:
§ Develop working knowledge of existing zoning database,
§ Review current zoning and permitting codes for specific jurisdictions and update/edit the database as needed to assure database accuracy,
§ Upload any available zoning documents for specific jurisdiction to facilitate the zoning process for staff (i.e. zoning application forms, zoning maps, filing instructions).
· Prepare and present staff reports on complex and controversial cases to the IMD development team, as required;
· Serve as project manager for special planning studies including the review of proposals, as required.
Qualifications
· Applied knowledge in urban and regional planning, land use development review, resource management, and environmental review;
· Demonstrated capacity to interpret local, state and federal laws, policies, and regulations related to land use and planning;
· Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex policies and regulations, and compile and analyze relevant information, including statistical data and applicable laws in order to draw valid conclusions and develop recommendations to resolve issues and propose solutions;
· Experience in urban and rural development and conservation;
· Direct and applied knowledge of principles and practices of project management, including work organization, resource management, and priority and deadline management;
· Demonstrated experience in the principles and practices of contract management to monitor work of consultants;
· Solid grasp of basic math and statistics;
· Ability to work independently;
· Excellent ability to interact with diverse publics and constituents of diverse backgrounds;
· Outstanding written and oral communication skills to develop and deliver proposals, reports, and presentations to individuals or groups and to communicate with diverse publics;
· Three + years work experience in Land Use related field.
Education
J.D or Masters in Urban Planning preferred. BA from well regarded liberal arts college considered.
