Legal Assistant

Job Summary:

 

ACCION International is seeking a Legal Assistant to work with members of the Legal Unit.  S/he will be responsible for day-to-day administrative operations that relate to the support of the Legal Unit’s responsibilities.  The ideal candidate would be looking to gain legal experience within the context of international development and microfinance. 

 

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

 

Contract Management and Record Retention

 

Assist with contract management, including: updating and controlling templates, tracking contract execution processes, and filing electronic and physical agreements;Assist in preparation and delivery of mandatory filings, including: state and federal regulatory filings, and Global Impact documentation;Maintain corporate documents, including:  certificates of good standing, board and committee minutes, tax-exemption certifications, articles of incorporation, and by-laws;Assist with management of control tools to mitigate legal risks; Manage legal invoices;Maintain insurance policies;Schedule meetings via telephone, videoconference, and in-person;Organize and maintain paper and electronic files;Assist with memo preparation, and presentations; andAssist in coordination of legal intern program.



Qualifications and Requirements:

 Excellent organizational skills and very strong attention to detail. Bachelor’s degree in an accredited college or university.Demonstrated written and oral English language skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively.Ability to work both as a team member and independently.Interest in not-for-profit law, domestic and international economic development.Proficiency in Spanish desired.
