Loan Counselor

We are in the process of reviewing resumes for Loan Counselors to work in our Scottsdale National Operations Center. Essential Job Functions: *Originate conventional, FHA and VA loans for Ryland Homes in a timely and efficient manner; *Primary contact for prospective customers, Ryland Homes sales, Ops Center and Title Company; *Conduct borrower interviews to complete loan application; *Analyze and evaluate borrower's financial status and credit information to determine qualifications; *Calculate income; *Determine appropriate automated underwriting system to obtain approval; *Ensure loan application is complete; *Approve final HUD-1 to ensure accuracy; *Resolve customer complaints; *Negotiate interest rates; *Focus on re-capturing any lost business; *Train and coach sales counselors on new programs and guidelines for financing; * Perform pre-qualifications for potential borrowers; *Initiate and maintain appropriate communication with borrower throughout process; *Be prepared to work rotating on call weekends; *Attend and participate in sales meetings as appropriate; *Maintain pipeline; *Ensure timely transition of loans to processing team; *Utilize loan origination system for all updates; *Assist with all other special tasks and projects as directed by manager or Ryland Homes. *Must have prior builder/mortgage experience. *Bi-lingual skills a plus (spanish). *Minimum 3-5 years processing or origination experience required. *Prior experience in managing a large, ever changing pipeline. *Strong knowledge of conventional and government loans products. *Strong knowledge of loan origination systems. *Strong oveall computer skills. *Strong customer service skills. *Proven relationship buiding skills. *Excellent problem solving skills. *Strong analytical ability. *Proven ability to negotiate, persuade. *Ability to be on-call on rotating weekends. *4 year degree preferred.
