Global Technology Services reinforces our collaborative relationship with Clients and key Stakeholders to provide business-driven technology solutions and maintain a competitive business advantage.Job Responsibilities: The Mainframe TCP/IP Systems Programmer provides infrastructure services and support for the firm’s Mainframe application development, QA, and production environments along with clients and end users support. The support covers multiple lines of business and focuses on Mainframe IP Network configurations, availability, performance and Disaster Recovery, in z/OS and z/VM. Provides and supports a viable BCP strategy, including participation in regular contingency testing. Participate in Change, Release, Incident, Event and Problem Management processes as needed. Responsibilities include:· Maintaining the highest availability possible for Mainframe based TCP/IP stacks.· Build, configure and maintain Mainframe IP related servers in development, QA, production and contingency environments.· Provide escalation support for L1 Operations Analysts.· Perform troubleshooting of Mainframe IP network problems as necessary and perform root cause analysis when possible.· Ensure all Mainframe IP related servers comply with the firm’s established security standards.· Assist in facilities, and Intranet networking maintenance events.· Plan, configure, test and implement changes and upgrades to the Mainframe IP Network environment as required.· Act as escalation point for unresolved Level 1 issues.· Assist clients in debugging IP network related application problems and issues.· Participate in engineering and technical reviews of new hardware and architecture.· Participate in testing and evaluation of new operating systems, and processors.· Collection of diagnostic data and problem reporting to vendors.· Plan, configure, test, and implement new features.Qualifications: · Minimum of 5-7 years of experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting TCP/IP in Mainframe processors supporting Development, QA, and Production systems.· Full understanding and experience with all TCP/IP configurable options, in the z/OS V1R8, z/VM V5R2 and z/VM V5R3.· Full understanding and experience with the configuration and maintenance of DNS, FTP, HTTP, IP, MULTICAST, OSPF, RIP, SNMP, SMTP, SSH, SSL, TCP, TELNET, TLS, TN3270E, and UDP protocols plus how to diagnose and resolve problems associated with these protocols.· Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills.· Experienced in OSA Gigabit Ethernet Adapters and Hipersockets is an absolute requirement.· Experienced in the collection, interpretation and diagnoses of IP packet traces.· Experienced in performance tuning aspects related to TCP/IP in the z/OS V1R8, z/VM V5R2, and z/VM V5R3 operating systems.· Experience with the 3270 data streams and diagnosis of 3270 data stream related problem.· Experienced in the use of z/OS and z/VM text editors like xedit and ISPF.· Experienced in z/OS and z/VM operators commands.· Experienced in z/OS JCL.· Experienced in z/OS Unix System Services (USS).· Experienced in SMP/E and IOCP configurations.· Willingness and ability to support weekend work, and being on call during off-hours.· PC literate.· Strong interpersonal, communications, organizational and time management skills Preferred skills and/or experience· Linux/Unix experience.· Experience with CICS, DB2 and MQ.· Willing to self educate themselves, in a meaningful and short time frame, in any and all technical areas, in which they have a deficiency.· ITIL Training or Foundations Certification Merrill Lynch is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
