We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual in our Tax Reporting Department. Baltimore Tax Operations is responsible for ensuring that all tax withholding and reporting/filing obligations for Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Based Clients and Legal Entities are met. Working closely with senior Business Unit representatives, we provide an in-depth client service role and function to insure that all Tax related matters, client queries, client statements, etc…are addressed on a timely basis. This includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:• Obtain, Validate, and Record all Tax Documents for:o Prime Brokerageo Private Wealth Managemento Foreign Exchange/ Commodities / Swaps / Syndicated Loans• Support existing Tax System (TX-Mainframe) and new Tax Reporting System (Revolver).• Provide Seasonal Support for domestic clients (Form 1099) and non-US clients (Form 1042s) including:o Email / Tax Hotline Supporto B-Notices and Expired Tax Document Mailings • Liaison with Client representatives – perform tax withholdings reversals and analyses.• Report, Reconcile, and Certify monthly all Institutional Tax Withholding Accounts and their respective balances.• Process tax withholding deposits to the IRS / Produce annual IRS filings of all Institutional 945 and 1042 forms.• Produce Business Level Reports, Metrics, and ad-hoc Queries.Position Summary: This position is a Manager / Associate level position within Tax Operations. The primary responsibilities of this position are:• Provide Team Leader Support of a Tax Operations function to be determined.• Manage day-to-day routine of approx. 2-5 staff members.• Analyses regarding Tax Reporting to our clients and the IRS.• Ad-hoc requestsSkills Required:Position Requirements:• B.S. Degree• 5-10 years related Tax Operations and Tax Analytical experience• Strong time management skills - ability to adapt to deadlines and shifting priorities• Ability to communicate effectively - both verbal and written.• Strong interpersonal skills – ability to establish relationships with various groups within Tax Operations and the Business Units we support.• Ambitious, self motivated individual, strong work ethic, positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team• Ability to articulate and escalate issues clearly and conciselyCandidate will utilize following applications:• Tax Systems – Existing Mainframe and new Revolver Tax System• Global Documentation System• Microsoft Products – Excel, Word• Microsoft Outlook – Email.
