Manager - Financial Control, Travelers Cheques & Prepaid Services

Position will play a critical role in ensuring financial control and oversight of the global Travelers Cheques & Prepaid Services [TCPS] business by addressing known control gaps, proactively identifying and preventing future control breakdowns, and increasing general control awareness. Primary responsibilities include: - Driving the TCPS Internal Control review program performing control reviews/spot checks around critical business processes & procedures. - Working with TCPS business partners in preparing for and coordinating internal and external audits/reviews and addressing all back-end audit MAPs (action plans). - Assisting in providing thought leadership around the Business' control self-assessment activities including Sarbanes Oxley [SOX] 404 Process Risk Self Assessments. Coordinating these same efforts for TCPS Finance. - Evaluating operational and financial risk potential of new products, channels, and processes ensuring adequate internal controls are implemented. Additional responsibilities include performing policy compliance reviews, operational risk event monitoring and trending, and other control related governance activities. QUALIFICATIONS: - minimum of 4-6 years of financial accounting experience required; strong knowledge of internal control, audit, and risk assessment principles are critical. - CPA/CIA and/or internal/external auditing experience is strongly desired. Information System auditing experience a plus. - prior experience in public accounting desired - working knowledge of GAAP is helpful as well as the ability to translate accounting theory into sound and practical accounting policies and procedures - proven ability to lead by influence and negotiate beneficial business solutions, overcome obstacles in a change-oriented environment, and generate innovative solutions often complicated by conflicting priorities & opinions. - demonstrated experience analyzing processes & procedures at a detailed level while identifying control weaknesses (root cause analysis) and providing solutions/recommendations in line with overall, high-level business objectives. - successful candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy, manage multiple tasks/projects with differing priorities, interact with all levels of the organization, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. - expertise in MS Excel and Access a plus as is Project Management experience.
