This individual works closely with the Vice Presidents of Finance and Vice Presidents of Market Management to understand the business needs and requirements of various projects and analysis across many global lines and brands. This individual helps drive process assessment and design to continuously improve internal methodologies that support both our suppliers and external customers. The Manager Financial Planning and Analysis for Partner Services Group (“PSG”) will serve a critical, shared-services role as business partner to the Partner Services organization and Leadership team, a globally distributed team of relationship managers covering all of the merchant and agency lines of business for the multiple travel web sites and businesses owned by Expedia, Inc. The primary responsibility of PSG is securing product supply for the Company’s businesses and covering, negotiating and building mutually-reinforcing relationships with leading domestic and international lodging owners, airlines, auto rental agencies, and other vendors. The PSG organization covers specific sectors, accounts, or geographies for its global suppliers with business originating in multiple points-of-demand, including Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Expedia Corporate Travel, Expedia Europe, Expedia Asia-Pacific, and WWTE (Expedia’s private label travel business). In addition to providing financial leadership to the PSG Leadership Team, this position will also support the heads of Market Management Organization, Supply Systems & Connectivity and Analytical functions within PSG.The Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the planning, reporting, and analytical tools necessary to maximize business effectiveness and efficiency for the PSG organization. The role will provide decision support and have ownership for forward looking business and operational planning, ongoing business and supplier information analysis, supplier-based reporting, competitive and industry trend analysis, business metrics analysis and financial forecasting, and business performance measurement. This position has an important role in providing the leadership of the PSG organization, in addition to the respective Leadership Teams of the various points-of-demand supported by this organization, with information and conclusions necessary to allow the business owners better understand its customers, suppliers, competitors and business effectiveness in an effort to improve performance and lead Expedia to further growth and stronger business results. Duties and Responsibilities:• Manage a team of analysts to develop and formalize the financial planning, reporting and analysis functions to support our global lodging line of business• Drive prioritization of new reporting functionality and ensure that business requirements are met with an evolving reporting infrastructure to deliver more timely and relevant business intelligence to the field market managers, Executive Management at Expedia, and to the PSG management team.• Create an analytical framework to determine the optimal product mix to offer in collaboration with the Marketing and Retail Operations groups and help drive performance by analyzing and reporting on progress in securing this optimal mix of inventory consistently and as market dynamics change over time. • Responsible for partnering with the PSG Leadership Team in addressing needs for creative and supplier-responsive deal-making and price-setting that serve the needs of both sides in terms of market impact and profitability.• Assist Expedia executive management with additional areas for improvement in the current EPSG organization, including business case support, project analytics, connectivity and product strategies, the alignment of the demand and supply strategy with the Expedia corporate strategy, streamlining the supply organization’s processes, and participating in enterprise-wide data and technology infrastructure solutions. • Develop analytical tools for evaluating supplier sales and management effectiveness. • Establish and maintain standard internal reporting packages for the PSG management team, the North American and Point of Sale Leisure Travel Groups, Finance partner teams, and the Leadership Teams of Expedia, Inc.• Support departmental need for ad-hoc reporting and presentations, including business reviews and management presentations internally externally to suppliers.• Responsible for working with PSG Leadership, the Finance organization, and the line of business owners to develop robust and accurate business forecasting models.• Utilize various database tools and systems to perform analyses on pricing behavior versus online competitors; develop profiles for and evaluate the effectiveness of targeted market management actions to create pricing leverage.• Manage ongoing analyses on all supplier relationship marketing efforts. • Participate in evaluation of secondary research data, reports, vendors and methodologies to determine which reports and data sets to purchase.• Analyze results of third party data to identify most meaningful information for Expedia’s businesses, including market size and share forecasting..
