Manager of Benefits Accounting
Lead benefit accounting process including expense analysis and benefit accounting budgeting process Compilation of Benefit Plan financial statements including coordinating overall process, primary contact with external auditors, and completing analytics and other analysis to ensure that financial statement trends appear reasonable and that significant fluctuations are supported Finance liaison to business units, HR, external and internal auditors, and valuation actuaries for all benefit accounting related items Review all benefit related SOX processes and sign off that all SOX processes are complete Serve as a subject matter expert for the benefit accounting process. Identify process improvements in the benefit accounting process, develop project plans, and manage implementation of improvements Ensure adherence to all relevant benefit accounting guidelines Build relationships with internal and external customers through good communication, timely service and support of customers needs Maintain dialogue with senior management to assess benefit accounting issues, risks, and status of resolution Research, analyze, and recommend solutions to complex problems Provide staff with timely feedback regarding performance, create and monitor staff development plans, assist staff with problem resolution, and perform annual performance evaluations All other assigned duties and tasks
Job Requirements:A four-year degree in accounting/finance or relevant business experience is required CPA designation Knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for benefit accounting (including FAS 87, FAS 106, and FAS 158) is required. Statutory accounting experience preferred. Significant experience using Excel, Access, Essbase, and other PC software Desire and ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts Strong analytical, leadership and decision-making skills Dependable, responsible and able to effectively work independently Strong attention to detail Strong organizational and communication skills Demonstrated integrity and professionalism Ability to be flexible to meet department needs Willingness and ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week, as needed, is required
