NxStage Medical is a medical device company in Lawrence, MA that develops, manufactures and markets innovative systems for the treatment of end-stage renal disease and acute kidney failure.  NxStage’s primary product, the NxStage System One, is a small, portable, easy-to-use hemodialysis system designed to provide physicians and patients improved flexibility in how hemodialysis therapy is prescribed and delivered.  Given its design, the System One is particularly well-suited for home hemodialysis and more frequent, or “daily” dialysis, which clinical literature suggests provides patients better clinical outcomes and improved quality of life.  The System One is specifically cleared by the US FDA for home hemodialysis as well as hospital and clinical-based dialysis.  We believe the largest market opportunity for our product is the home hemodialysis market for end-stage renal disease.  Come join us during this exciting time in our growth as a company!

 

Summary: This person will have primary responsibilities for all external financial reporting and serve as the primary contact to the external auditors. He/she will be responsible for all Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, technical accounting research and analysis, and for financial audit coordination. The candidate will also be responsible for the companys financial policies and procedures and will be involved with Sarbanes/Oxley compliance efforts.

Responsibilities:

Prepares and reviews monthly financial reports for Management and the Board of Directors.


Prepares and submits all statutory financial filings to the SEC and /or other regulatory agencies.


Responsible for researching SEC and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements and issues as required.


Responsible for preparation and coordination of financial and 401(k) benefits audits.


Supports tax returns file preparations.


Lead role in developing the Annual Report for the Company.


Prepares and maintains financial policies and procedures.


Supports implementing, maintaining, and testing compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.


Stock Option accounting and administration

Reqirements:


Bachelors degree in accounting with a CPA.


Minimum of 5 years experience preferably with a combination of public accounting (required) and related experience in a publicly traded company. 


Thorough understanding of technical accounting principles and public company filing requirements.


Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and management skills.


Detail oriented and well organized with the ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
