An opportunity currently exists within our Market Data department for a Market Data Business Specialist.

POSITION TITLE:     Market Data Business Specialist 

DEPARTMENT:   Market Data

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor degree required: MBA preferred

- Five years total work experience required; three of which must be in market data role

- Five years of experience in market data role preferred

- Knowledge of core market data applications (e.g. Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters, Thomson products, etc.) required

- Broader and detailed knowledge in the content and functionality of a broad array of market data applications and data preferred

- Knowledge of the investment management process and experience working directly with investment professionals required

- Experience managing vendor relationships and contract negotiations required

MAJOR DUTIES:

- Provide to investment professionals and related staff a comprehensive consulting-oriented service focused on their market data application and data needs 

- Apply knowledge of the investment process to understand user requirements for external market data services

- Work with users to clarify and articulate their needs, and then apply knowledge of products available in the marketplace to identify, evaluate, and implement solutions that meet those needs. 

- Facilitate product evaluation and selection; analyze content, functionality, and cost relative to expressed requirements

- Coordinate communications to users with respect to product upgrades, services newly available in the marketplace, project updates, etc

- Ensure individual needs are met with respect to market data while also looking more broadly across the organization to form comprehensive product strategies and roadmaps

- Manage overall firm-wide relationships with a large number (~40-50) external market data vendor organizations

- Analyze vendor proposals and negotiate appropriate agreements/contracts which include: terms and conditions of the business arrangement including price, services, quantity, scope, etc

- Ensure existing contracts are properly managed and renewals are reviewed / processed in a timely and effective manner

- Communicate and collaborate with a variety of other departments at Federated: Legal for contract review, Finance/Decision Support and Accounting for billing and financial forecasting, Trading for commission management, Business Information Systems Division for market data technology implementation and support, and others

- 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Overtime as required)
