Job Location US-CA-Los Angeles StatusFull Time Position description As American Funds Distributors (AFD) has grown, greater emphasis has been placed on the marketing techniques utilized within the organization. The marketing and sales development group is charged with initiating, developing, executing, and analyzing targeted initiatives directed towards financial advisers and other select intermediaries. This open position is for a Marketing and Sales Specialist focused on AFDs growing insurance business. This new position will be responsible for coordination of marketing and product development projects to support AFDs insurance efforts. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of targeted insurance marketing initiatives to include product coordination. This role will involve acting as a liaison with the insurance sales force, insurance business team, dealer relations, and compliance and communications teams regarding insurance product development, marketing initiatives and sales literature. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary contact with insurance company relationships for marketing activity and product support, from an insurance sub-advisory perspective. Insurance Marketing Responsibilities: Responsible for the development and execution of the insurance marketing business plan, along with others on the marketing team. Initiate, develop, execute and analyze targeted marketing activity focused on key insurance firms. Coordinate with communications departments (AFD and CGTC) to create new materials to help support insurance relationships. Serve as a liaison with insurance marketing and compliance contacts at the home offices of the firms. Build relationships and respond to inquiries and requests for statistics, information, etc. Circulate drafts of literature created by insurance relationship firms to AFD and CGTC contacts and compliance. Provide comments back to contacts. Coordinate filing of literature with select broker/dealer contacts as needed. Coordinate with multimedia team to help support several campaign themed presentations per year, created for the insurance wholesalers to present at National Sales Meetings of the insurance companies and in the field.Insurance Product Development Responsibilities: Serve as liaison between LAO insurance team, insurance companies, legal/compliance and others as product-related issues arise. Support requests for information when AFD is researching new relationships. Coordinate all aspects of product launches to include documentation of scope, interaction with insurance company contacts, liaison with CRMC legal/compliance teams, development of supporting messaging, all the way through to marketing and sales activities. Operate as resource to AFD insurance team in terms of product participation details. Other Responsibilities: Assist with projects relating to AFDs insurance retirement efforts as needed. Support Marketing & Sales Development team by taking on additional projects as needed.QualificationsStrong detail orientation, knowledge of the facets of marketing, prefer mutual fund and insurance industry experience. Ability to effectively coordinate projects and communicate with a broad range of associates/departments both inside the organization as well as with external contacts at broker/dealers and insurance companies. Aptitude for systems and strong understanding of marketing execution process.
