Media Affairs Associate

SUMMARY:  To assist the Director of Media Affairs in serving as a liaison to and source of information for members of the press.  This positon has direct daily contact with members of the TV press to schedule shots with on-air talent, NYMEX traders, and b-roll of the trading floor.  This role is also responsible for writing many of the margin press releases and editing releases written by others on staff.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

·  Schedule and manage tv and radio hits from NYMEX press gallery

·  Maintain relationships with traders who participate in media coverage

·  Operate NYMEX camera and sound equipment

·  Write press releases as assigned and edit press releases written by other staff members

·  Escort members of the media through the building

·  Distribute press releases by PR Newswire or using internal lists

·  Post press releases to NYMEX website

·  Maintain up-to-date press contact list

 

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

·  Update inventories and other information on NYMEX website as needed

·  Serve as back-up for photography when possible

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills

·  Knowledge of  Microsoft Office programs

·  Knowledge of HTML

·  Solid written and verbal communication skills

·  Capable of handling multiple projects at once

·  Understanding of basic camera controls and recording functions

 

Education

·  College degree in communications, journalism, or marketing

·  One to three years public relations experience
