Mgr-Finance

This leadership position provides direction to a team of Accountants in executing daily, month-end and quarterly financial accounting for the EMEA & JAPA region. This position also includes oversight of balance sheet reconciliation compliance and attestation actitivies. The candidate will demonstrate a readiness to lead their team in a way that will inspire each member in meeting business and individual goals and responsibilities. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a high level of balance sheet compliance based on GAAP principals and TRS policies. The Manager will also provide leadership within the Card Financial Control and Settlement team in support of Global Initiatives, and Employee Satisfaction. American Express is an Equal Opportunity Employer. QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. in Accounting/Finance degree preferred with 5-10 years experience in an Accounting organization. Proven ability to organize staff members in support of departmental initiatives. Demonstrated ability to understand and apply GAAP, TRS Financial and Managerial policies in the decision making process. Candidate will be expected to manage multiple regions around the world and is expected to understand the different products and platforms used for both lending and charge card products. Excellent communication and cultural awareness skills are necessary for both customer and employee interections. High level of understanding and experience in balance sheet reconciliation is necessary. Ability to handle a high stress environment with tight deadlines and flexibility to meet month end requirements is necessary. An understanding and practicing of COSO/SOX404 along with experience in quarterly balance sheet attestations is a plus. Working knowledge of Walker G/L required.
