NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

The Network Administrator performs general software installations and configurations, develops and maintains appropriate documentation, assists in the planning of major system and application deployments.  Tracks and monitors changes and systems configurations.  Provides input and recommendations on new technologies, systems and operational changes. Maintains server and printer hardware.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

A.A.S., in Computer Science or related field.  Two years relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Two years of related technical experience as follows: One year help desk or desktop systems support (can substitute any preferred certification for this one year). Also requires at least one year at the system and/or network administration level supporting such areas as Windows 2000/2003 File and Print services, experience with Windows 2000/XP client operating systems, and experience with Intel based standard PC hardware and network printers.  Experience with supporting mission critical applications and processes. Experience with on call duties and procedures in an environment with automated alerts and trouble tickets.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The following experience in some combination of the following technologies: HP Printers, Cisco networking equipment, Symantec NetBackup, Firewalls, IIS, MS SQL Server, MS Exchange, Cold Fusion, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, WINS.  Experience with any of the following: Nagios, NetIQ AppManager, SNMP, LDAP.
