The associate is responsible for understanding both the business and technical requirements for new products that will be engineered and implemented for distribution to our customers. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of LAN/WAN/Server security, load balancing, and clustering.Duties & Responsibilities 1. Acts as the lead on complex installs and configurations. Performs system configuration, software installation and upgrades of systems acting as application servers, web servers, database servers, and file servers. Leads / Handles enterprise-wide software rollouts. Gives guidance on how to configure, install, and maintain necessary hardware and software for the enterprise. Occasionally performs maintenance and release upgrades. 2. Oversees responsibility for security and data recovery areas. Maintains expertise to function as subject matter expert in the majority of security related areas. Stays abreast of vulnerabilities, exploits, and security trends through subscriptions to security related web sites and newsgroups. Proposes and develops additional security guidelines and policies for protecting equipment and data. Plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information in computer against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure. 3. Leads the resolution of network and system problems independently. Applies technical expertise to recognize, research, isolate, and resolve complex hardware and software problems. Provides diagnoses and creative solutions to network and system problems. Continuously improves customer support, identifying opportunities and implement solutions for improving efficiency and service. Uses advanced techniques and efficient techniques for resolving problems. Monitors system performance and capacity; provide input for needed expansion or alternative configurations to support additional storage, database capacity, or web server capacity needs. 4. Leads technical discussions with the client to assess a client's needs. Gains an understanding of the client's requirements and helps the customer understand TrueCredit's capabilities and explains how TrueCredit can accommodate their specific product need. With expert knowledge, ensures that industry best practices are employed in application design and execution. Maintains critical systems with an urgency and ownership while maintaining a high regard to the potential effects of actions taken, to the business and its customers. Provides 24-hour on-call support. 5. Monitors developed applications following deployment of enhancements. Anticipates impact of changes/additions on system to ensure quality of system. Supports and troubleshoots the environment by monitoring and analyzing system performance using database and server log information. Document and recommend process improvements. Responds to suggestions and problems as reported by users, system error reporting and monitoring. Gains full understanding of each issue, then documents, investigates and resolves it, while involving appropriate parties and providing status updates. Works with management to quantify and communicate technical support issues. 6. Creates and delivers training. Provides administration and support of Databases. Administers user rights and permissions in active directory. Manages domain names and SSL certificates. Monitors the corporate email server for intrusion, virus, etc. Appropriately responds and addresses as needed. 7. Keeps technical management informed about progress, problems, and activities. Keeps team informed about changes, improvements, etc. that might affect them. Documents and communicates system enhancements and updates. Leads and mentors Network staff in adopting/implementing new tools and methodologies. 8. Schedules NetSys support team on-call. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. Expert knowledge of IT Systems Security and potential threats and counter measures. Must have experience functioning as a lead on various projects. 5-8 years using Linux, 3-5 years administering Linux, 2+ years as a software developer. Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack. Sound familiarity with these protocols: DNS, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, SSH. Confident in using C, C++, perl, shell scripting. Comfortable in using Java and Linux ipchains and iptables. Complete familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, PIX's.In-depth knowledge of technologies involved in Servers hardware and software, Client hardware and Software, internal data networks, as well as connections to and usage of Internet system. A solid understanding of a UNIX / Linux-based operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts ("inode", "superblock"), can use performance analysis to tune systems. A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts. Linux/Unix server deployment and administration; IIS, Netscape or Apache httpd server deployment and administration; TCP/IP network administration; e-commerce skills preferred. A solid understanding of Java application server environments, including Tom Cat, WebLogic and ATG Dynamo. Ability to program in an administrative language.
