Nonresident Alien Tax Accountant I

This position is responsible for a portion of Mellon's nonresident alien (NRA) tax work, which will include the analysis of accounts, transactions, and documentation for nonresident alien tax applicability, the calculation and payment of NRA tax withholding, and the preparation of related annual filings.

This position requires the ability to effectively manage a voluminous workload under various time constraints.  Although much of the workload is accomplished through regular maintenance on the tax system utilized by PWM, there is a significant volume of collateral work done outside of that system which will require spreadsheet and database abilities.  Such responsibilities may include receipt of raw data from the custody system for further analysis and tax computations, review of security prospect uses for correct tax treatment, and the reconciliation of payment activity from the custody system to the tax system.  Additionally, special reporting is required by a number of clients.

The incumbent should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience and be proficient in the use of PC spreadsheet and database applications.  One to two years of experience is preferred.
