Mintel International Group is an international leader in providing consumer market research and competitive intelligence tools as well as in delivering customized consulting solutions to top-tier organizations.  With group headquarters in the UK and US headquarters in Chicago, Mintel has been a market leader for over thirty-five years.  As a result of consistent year over year growth and significant future market opportunity, we now seek to hire a dynamic and experienced Research Analyst for our Comperemedia division.

 

You will work on a small team of analysts, and will be located in McLean, VA, at the client site.

 

The primary role of this position is to prepare competitive analysis for the financial services sector for the client.  You will work primarily (75% of your time) on analysis derived from working with Comperemedia’s syndicated and custom research.  (You will be trained intensively at the outset in Chicago.) The remaining 25% of your time will be working on other research projects, as defined by our client.

 Primary Responsibilities

 

· Analyze competitors’ direct marketing efforts to identify key trends and insights on strategies, tactics, pricing and product offerings

· Develop custom reports for client; present reports in-person and field client’s questions

· Work closely on special projects for client and in-house staff

· Monitor data quality and integrity; implement and champion quality control programs where necessary, with an emphasis on training the input team

· Provide training to the client on how to access and utilize the features and functionality on the web site used to access the data sets

· Occasional travel to Chicago HQ

 

Job Qualifications

 

· 2 – 3 years experience in market research, consulting, direct marketing, or media planning

· Experience in the financial services sector is required, particularly in credit card, mortgage and loan, or banking

· Basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods

· Excellent analytical and writing skills and the ability to translate ‘consumer learning’ into actionable recommendations for business growth

· Strong Excel (knowledge of Pivot tables useful) and PowerPoint skills

· Experience with market research or media measurement tools a plus

· Basic understanding of direct mail and advertising industries

· Ability to work independently
