Oracle DBA

The Oracle DBA will be responsible for supporting and maintaining real-time mission critical and decision support databases in a highly available heterogeneous environment that supports applications and users across an enterpriseDaily responsibilities will include configuring, installing and upgrading database server software, maintaining sound backup policies and procedures and SOPs, and performing operational monitoring activities to ensure a stable database environment capable of meeting ongoing business needsUnder minimal guidance from managers and senior DBAa, the Enterprise DBA performs self-directed activities and tasks for the maintenance and support. The DBA will work in a collaborative environment where changes are reviewed and communicated with all members Essential Functions Maintain and support databases and applications in a real-time trading environmentProvide user and developer support, and support to DBA associates and Application DBAsTroubleshoot, resolve, and document production problems Maintain sound backup policies and proceduresInstall, configure, and upgrade database software and related productsPerform routine and customary operational activities to ensure a stable database environmentArchive data from primary databases to archive locations. Perform schema data refreshesMonitor vendor releases and schedule necessary patchesInteract with system administrators and application developers, and business process leadersContribute ideas and suggestions to improve technology solutions Required/Preferred Qualifications A minimum of four (4) or more years of hands-on experience with Database AdministrationA thorough understanding of relational databases and SQLA thorough understanding of database backup concepts and procedures including RMAN backupsA thorough understanding of at least one flavor of Unix; Linux preferredExperience with shell script programming, Korn shell preferred; knowledge of Perl a plus Experience with tools like Enterprise Manager, the EM Diagnostics Pack, and the EM Performance PackExperience with Oracle Real Application Clusters, Replication, and Streams/AQ Experience with database communication mechanisms preferred: Net Services, ODBC, and TCP/IP Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycleUnderstanding of logical and physical modeling conceptsKnowledge of new database technologies a plusExcellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize, meet deadlines and to work well under pressureFinancial services or market knowledge a plus Must enjoy working in a fast-paced teamwork environment and dealing with a variety of peopleBS degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent work experience * Apply Salary/Benefits At SIG, our employees are our most valued assets.
