IB Operations is a dynamic and diverse division that ensures trades are settled in a timely, cost efficient manner, that risk is minimised and that the client experience is a pleasant one.  Spread across multiple product areas (Derivatives, Securities, Global Finance & Foreign Exchange Operations, Loans, Trust and Securities, as well as cross functional entities) IB Operations strives to do things smarter, faster and more effectively.  It meets the technical and operational challenges of processing transactions worth hundreds of billions of Euros every day, across multiple time zones in all the major currencies and markets.

 

US Loan Operations – Closing & Compliance

PAR CLOSER TEAM LEAD

Job Description:

Responsible for the drafting of market standard documentation used to transfer ownership of multi-million dollar loan positions between parties as well as the calculation of the economics associated with the settlement of such transactions. The position also involves negotiation of terms used in the documentation and the communication of complex legal issues to external clients as well as the trading desk in an articulate manner. 

 

There is an extensive amount of market exposure and recognition which comes along with this position. Performing this role exceptionally can potentially position an individual for advancement to either Loan Operations management or to a position on a loan trade desk.

 

Responsibilities:

- Execute closing documents for actual loan transfers, directly w/ counterparties and online

- Check pricing calculations prior to settlement of open trades

- Liaise between Par Loan Trade Desk, Deal Administration and Accounting and Control to ensure accurate execution and settlement of transactions

- Provide manager with daily update on activities and potential problems

- Customer contact, ability to forge relationships and assist in resolution of  trade related issues

- Interaction with the Par Loan Trade desk for guidance in problem solving and customer relations

- Preparation of MIS and closing capacity models

 

Skills Required:

- BA degree with a minimum of four years prior experience as a closer in the loan market

- Highly motivated, organized, and proactive
- The ability to train, manage and motivate a group of eight or more individuals as well as provide guidance in terms of strategy, tact and approach to a plethora of situations faced when closing loan transactions

- A vast network of contacts within the loan market which will be invaluable in terms of gathering the most up to date loan market data which will expedite trade closing as well assisting in resolving trade disputes

- The ability to interpret the repercussions of decisions prior to making them and to know what is in the best interest of the bank’s various business lines / trade desks as well as what is in the best interest of Deutsche Bank overall when dealing with closing issues and corporate actions

- The ability to identify trends which effect the loan closing process, report these to the desk and develop strategies and procedures to deal with them proactively (PIK/Toggle, credits transitioning from par to distressed docs, delays in administrative agents processing Third Party assignments, etc.)

- The ability to interpret and execute the best method / most efficient way of closing a loan transaction (assignment vs. participation vs. netting letter) as appropriate under various circumstances

- The ability to handle multiple transactions at a time with good attention to detail

- A sense of urgency and be very responsive (get documents out same day or T+1)

- Strong, independent investigational skills
