Paralegal - Derivative Documentation Group

Job Description: Support a team of ISDA Negotiators within the Derivative Documentation Group. Researches and resolves issues and matters which may involve substantial legal or factual complexity, through detailed research and/or examination of documentation and/or factual investigation. Provides substantiation and background for specific client inquiries, claims, disputes, cases and/or proceedings under the direction of an attorney. May prepare agreements, documents and pleadings relating to litigation and non-litigation matters with customized provisions under the direction of an attorney. Provides support to a specialized practice or functional area within the Legal Group requiring a high degree of analytical, written and oral communication and organizational skills. Able to identify specific as well as broad, underlying issues in area of expertise and work independently on complex assignments without direct supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in business or paralegal certificate with work experience in the financial services/capital markets/banking sector. One to three years experience with loan documentation, derivatives agreements or in the preparation, drafting or reviewing of contracts related to financial services. Excellent interpersonal and precise communication skills. Generally comfortable communicating with associates and client representatives at all levels. Ability to work independently, exercise mature judgment, raise questions to management and/or counsel when necessary, and adhere to policy guidelines. Self-motivated character that excels in multi-tasking, capable of working autonomously and enjoys working in a trading environment. Detail-oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong reading and analytical skills. Preferred Skills: Some experience (1-2 years) in a capital markets/trading operations environment is preferable.
