Job description Establish network, systems, and application performance metrics, as well as problem isolation initiatives. 5 + years expertise and relevant experience as a desktop of infrastructure performance engineer with enterprise software products, preferably in Internet-related technologies. Partner with the design engineering teams and partner with multi-disciplinary, cross –organizational teams on required performance improvements and to diagnose, analyze, recreate, and troubleshoot identified enterprise and web application.
Must have experience in:Systems performance and engineering.Assessing performance for network protocols, servers or proxy appliances, security appliances, and identifying required improvements. Developing quantitative performance models for end-to-end application performance including infrastructure elements, such as desktops, networks, middleware, servers, or proxy appliances.Software engineering experience directly implementing performance improvements for networking or application protocol embedded appliancesSkilled at assessing and rectifying performance problems in applications and network protocols, servers, or proxy appliances and identifying required improvements.Analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, with the ability to grasp complex problems and develop solutions.Experience with Ethereal and CompuWare Application Vantage comparable tools.Strong understanding of IP networking, including the ability to analyze network behavior, performance, and application issues using standard tools Develop quantitative performance models for the products-based on defined metrics and constraints. Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) testing teams, to develop test plans and methodologies required for Performance Engineering activities. Develop and present internal documentation that provides guidance on application performance. Develop and facilitate processes of performance testing, performance analysis, and capacity planning as related to the stability of company’s environments.Create and maintain performance test plans for company’s platforms to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance. Document and report all processes, results, and analysis around the Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) program. Test the execution of performance scripts and work with the Development and Infrastructure teams to identify the root cause of breakdowns and maintain system performance. Conduct usage analysis studies of companies systems, analyzing data and mapping to provide input Architecture, Strategic Planning, and Engineering teams. Develop quantitative performance models for the applications/services based on defined metrics and constraints. You perform other tasks as directed by management.
Technical Profile
Extensive knowledge of open systems design for Windows and Unix/AIX/Linux platforms. Good working experience of the following:Windows and Unix/AIX/Linux Administration.Multi-platform Systems Integration.SAN Storage and Replication technologies.Disaster Recovery and Clustering technologies.
Development experience of the following:Active Server Pages / VB.Perl / Unix Shell Scripts.Java Server Pages, and .NET.Extensive knowledge of the multi-tier architecture including but not limited to Application design (front-end, middleware and backend).Security and firewall zoning.Application deployment.Operational monitoring and troubleshooting procedures.
Strong knowledge and understand of the following:Enterprise platforms such as Websphere/J2EE, MQ, and .NET.fail-over and recovery mechanisms (Cisco LD/CSM, WAS EdgeServer, Session Servers, etc).Network infrastructures (PIX, CSM, LD, GLB, etc).Systems Infrastructure (LDAP, Active Directory, Messaging, SMS, etc).Network communication protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS, RMI, RPC, etc). Encryption and digest mechanisms (VPN, RC4, MD5, SHA1, etc).Skilled in the development and re-engineering of systems and processes.
