Product Manager - Marketing, Investments
The Product Manager is responsible for effectively communicating the differentiating attributes of Mellon Capital’s product capabilities to the marketplace through effective marketing and communications strategies. The position has responsibility for executing the positioning of the firm’s hedge fund and traditional products in the marketplace, and developing and implementing product marketing plans to support sales in various internal and external distribution channels. As the key liaison between investment management, research, marketing communications, and sales, the Senior Product Marketing Manager will work with the product marketing team and other organizational resources to define, create and execute tactical marketing programs to support business development efforts.
The Product Manager is considered a key advocate for Mellon Capital’s products from a marketing perspective. The individual understands Mellon Capital’s products in detail including legal, operational, investment and marketing issues. The individual also serves as a source of information for consultants, prospects, and internal sales forces through an ongoing dialogue with portfolio management, trading, legal, accounting, research and other operational units at Mellon Capital.
Essential Responsibilities in Order of Priority
· Provide infrastructure for new product launches, coordinating investment management, market research, operational, legal, financial and marketing resources to package product and drive launch success
· Collaborate with sales and appropriate investment management personnel to develop individual product marketing plans and effective marketing programs to support business development efforts in assigned products
· Plan and develop effective communications strategy including collateral materials, written content, and web marketing plans to support distribution channels
· Establish content quality standards and manage the RFP process to ensure timeliness and competitiveness of responses
· Ensure proper representation of products in consultant, hedge fund, and other third party databases
· Provide regular reviews of marketplace, channels and competitors to ensure proper product positioning and monitor competitive developments/opportunities
· Prepare responses to periodic product requests that may involve coordinating with portfolio managers and/or the research staff.
Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification, or Academic Background Required
· BA/BS in Finance or Business. MBA and/or CFA or progress toward designation desirable
· Exceptional written and oral communication skills
· 5 years minimum experience in the institutional asset management industry
· Demonstrated knowledge of investment markets and strong analytical and mathematic skills as applicable to investment concepts
· Accustomed to working within strict deadlines with a high commitment to accuracy.
· Excellent attention to detail
