Senior level Project Manager to work under minimal supervision and apply/execute expert level project management skills. This employee is managed by a senior-level manager or executive. Projects managed typically have high levels of complexity, risk, and impact on the company. An incumbent in this position may manage several projects at a time and mentor other project management resources. Essential Job Functions:1. Manages the activities of other project managers, systems analysts and development personnel for large inter-divisional corporate projects. Manages the efforts of multiple corporate and/or IT project teams concurrently, with very large resource commitments and potential impact.2. Independently interprets strategies, applies and integrates them into alternative technologies and operational processes through project planning, organization and coordination as well as through quantitative process performance (KPI's), and management of internal and external team members performing project work.3. Participates in negotiations with potential clients; assisting clients in the development of project plans and strategies to take advantage of business opportunities on large scale projects.4. Provides subject matter expertise in areas (including, but not limited to): project management, setup of local project offices, translation of business requirements (KPI's) to project deliverables and test requirements, risk identification/mitigation, use of project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, project intervention, knowledge transfer and other areas of expertise based on professional knowledge and background.5. Ensures that all aspects of projects are conducted in strict compliance with Washington Mutual's corporate project methodology and external regulations.6. Participates in the development of department guidelines, policies and operations, including defining requirements for complex and non-standard department methodologies.7. Makes presentations to senior-level steering committee representing the development of project objectives, negotiations of project scope with client, risk identification, negotiations on project deliverables.8. Provides effective leadership and guidance, facilitating a team-building environment that adheres to corporate values.9. Responsibility for personnel actions, including hiring, promotion, performance management and termination as appropriate for the role.10. Serves as a consultant to senior management regarding long-range planning for project and/or program management.11. Develops and maintains long-term relationships with strategic industry leaders.• Minimum 7 to 10 years full life cycle project management experience and related education. • Experience with Enterprise implementations, ERP, CRM, infrastructure and intranet projects desired. • Must demonstrate expert capabilities in the following: communication management, facilitation, management of team dynamics, relationship building, influencing, management of matrix personnel, problem solving, decision making, resourcefulness, strategic thinking, innovation management, tactical execution, dealing with ambiguity, team building, leadership, interpersonal communications, and executive level communications. • Ability to enforce policies, methodologies, standards and procedures as they relate to activities within scope of authority. • Above-average abilities in strategic analytics, enterprise-wide impacts, high-risk identification and mitigation. • Expert knowledge of principles, practices and techniques for assessing best practices, emerging technologies, and their impact on business objectives/strategies and current systems. • Knowledge of internal and external requirements relating to employee supervision and performance management.
