Location: Riverwoods, IL UNITED STATESFunctional Area: AnalyticsMin Pay Rate: $0Max Pay Rate: $0Pay Type: YearResource Type: Full TimeJob Description: This is a critical role within the Discover Card Portfolio Management team with specific responsibility developing and implementing new acquisition and portfolio credit policy and risk strategies using customer level information and models. The new strategies will explore and apply new methodology to manage credit risk while using efficient trade-offs among business metrics such as receivable, loan losses and profit. The decisioning system will include many components of segmentation, predictive models, optimization scheme and strategies. The role’s responsibilities also include developing test methods and reviewing and tracking performance results, conducting ad-hoc analyses etc. The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional environment with Decision Science, Risk System Management, Discover Personal Loan (DPL) business team and other functional teams. As an integral part of the DPL business, the role also shares the responsibility of managing the credit risk of the personal loan portfolio and meeting the overall DPL business objectives. This position will lead the efforts of researching the best way to leverage customer level information and to optimize business metrics to meet company’s objectives. Key Deliverables (performance measures): Responsible for building new acquisition and portfolio strategies using customer level information, segmentation and predictive models. Develop new business objectives and meet them using optimal trade-offs among receivables, losses and profit while maintaining credit loss at targeted levels. Liaise with DPL business team to actively participate in the development of the business plan and ensure credit policy. Coordinate development of analytical data base and MIS reporting structure. Ensure implementation of credit policy systematically and operationally. Monitor performance of personal loan portfolio. Identify potential external credit quality pressures and adjust credit policy to manage potential exposure. Lead the efforts to make policy and strategy changes including new strategies. Communicate the recommendation to management and functional teams. Responsible for maintaining policy quality and integrity. Facilitate testing and auditing process to ensure the accuracy.SKILLSRequired: Education and Experience: Graduate degree. At least 5 year experience in financial service industry including risk management or policy areas. A proven track record of policy development, performance review and implementation experience. Experience with model building and/or decision science areas. Good understanding of how regression models been built and applied in decisioning systems. Strong analytic experience with statistical tools, profit analysis, data mining and reporting. Experience to use optimization related methodology in a business environment. Experience to lead cross-functional teams: coordinating efforts to develop various components and ensuring quality and desirable results; working with system team such as development of requirements, testing design and results etc. Competencies: Strong analytic skills including statistical theory and practices, financial analysis and reporting generation. Knowledge of optimization methodology. Creative thinking and problem solving skills. In-depth knowledge of the industry, risk management practices and business metrics. Extensive computer skills including in-depth knowledge and proficiency in SQL and SAS. Excellent communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
