Risk - Return Analyst

Job Summary:Responsible for independently preparing and maintaining current and historical database(s) of performance rates of return, composite rates of return, performance attribution and contribution analyses, risk analyses and risk reports. Performs analyses of the sources and consistency seen within the performance information that is generated. Prepares and reconciles comparative analyses of return, benchmark and client guideline information. Responsible for the accuracy of the information in our risk and performance databases, analyses and reports. Must review and report on performance returns generated by the investment accounting and other internal systems, complete composite performance calculations and other required reports within set deadlines.Position requires above average analytical skills. Analyst is expected to solve problems using a combination of technical and business experience. Must present complex information to performance committee and other constituents in both written and verbal form. Participates in the Adviser?s ongoing risk management review process. Duties and Responsibilities:? Assist with reviews required of the Risk Management function; Prepares written reports of completed reviews; Assess whether noted risks or other noted deficiencies have been corrected? Independently prepares and maintains computer based composite returns for all Duff & Phelps investment products, including providing principal interface with external performance auditing firm? Maintains large current and historical database(s) of composite returns for portfolios and their benchmarks both for clients and other constituents? Establish and maintain all portfolio performance, composite performance, performance attribution and contribution, risk analyses and risk report records? Updates various monthly / quarterly databases and information to be used for product profiles, client presentations, RFP?s and questionnaires within deadlines; assist with responses to complex RFP?s? Reviews with Compliance staff the performance-related disclosures that accompany marketing / advertising materials? Assist in the preparation and production of special materials (charts, reports, etc.) for clients and other constituents, as directed by Risk Manager? Reviews and analyzes performance returns and attribution reports to identify risks and trends? Must present complex information to performance committee and others both in written and verbal form? Provides ongoing training to home office staff on GIPS and changes in the industry?s performance requirements and standards? Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management? Must maintain appropriate attendanceSkills, Knowledge and/or Experience:? At minimum, a college Bachelor degree required and a minimum of 5 years experience within the finance industry? Preferred candidates will have an MBA degree? Preferred candidates will have (or be working to attain) the CFA and CIPM designations? Strong knowledge of the investment profession, investment concepts, tools and terminology? Must possess strong analytical aptitude? Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and ability to work independently is essential? Focus is on timeliness and accuracy of information prepared? Significant initiative and self reliance required to insure that data is correct and compiled on a timely basis? Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks of varying degrees of importance simultaneously? Awareness of potential negative outcomes inherent in events and processes; Ability to associate negative outcomes with changes in the firm?s risk exposure? Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity suite? Ability to understand the viewpoint and perspective of investment managers and clients alike?
