SAN Engineer

For a global, stable financial firm.

Job Description:

-Timely delivery of engineering projects and programs as instructed by Storage Engineering Management

-Provide technical depth and wisdom in the storage SAN area

-Gather customer requirements, define scope and estimate resources for projects

-Thoroughly document the results of evaluations and certifications to a high quality using company standard processes

-Present Engineering Management with recommendations on best usage of SAN within company environment

-Work with company operating system and database engineering teams to certify complete stacks

-Work with other company support teams with regular information exchange to resolve level 3 storage related problems. On-call duties may be required.

-Work closely with company selected vendors to influence future roadmaps and technology

-Transfer knowledge of new storage infrastructure technology to company ITI operational team members.

 

Requirements:

-Technical college diploma and three years' job experience or equivalent professional experience in the storage industry

 

Preferred Qualifications:

-Broad and deep engineering-level understanding of EMC Clariion and DMX arrays, Cisco and McData switches, and associated software

-Ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines

-Technical documentation

-Solaris 8 and 10, Linux and Wintel

-Perl and shell scripting

-Host based volume management tools

 

Educational Requirements:  College degree or equivalent work experience.
