Sales Training Specialist

Responsibilities 

Responsible for designing, developing and facilitating training and educational programs in connection with management development, on-the-job training, and employee orientation.  Responsible for teaching sales skills, product training, customer care skills, IT systems training, policy and procedure training.


Qualifications 

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree preferred.  5+ years annuity and/or mutual fund financial services experience preferred.  Securities and principal license or willingness to obtain.  Coaching/mentoring experience with sales staff highly desirable.  Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

Equipment/Physical Demands/Environment

Normal office environment.  Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, excel, and use of projector.  Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.


Success Factors

Excellent oral and written communication skills required.  Creativity and strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  Strong leadership skills, with organizational, analytical and prioritization skills 


Primary Duties Working in collaboration with Human Resources, product development, sales management, IT and Cedar Rapids to develop and gain agreement for the training and development strategy including training measurement and assessing the effectiveness of training by tracking results. Create and implement consistent standards for all key training and development initiatives (i.e. needs analysis, design, consistent content and evaluation, maintenance of training records etc.) in order to ensure that the highest level of quality of training is delivered. Develop and maintain training curriculum to provide primary (initial) and secondary (ongoing) levels of training to maintain optimum product and industry knowledge as well as necessary skill sets.  Manage and schedule outside training resources, such as, but not limited to, wholesalers from mutual fund sub-advisors, Account(s) Team, and service vendors (e.g. DALBAR, Sequoia, Fusion, and Market Metrics) as needed. Work with Marketing and Product Experts who provide competitive analysis, then develops training materials to maintain optimum competitive sales strategies.  Keeps informed of new products, services and other general information of interest to the TCI organization.  Design and develop in-house programs based on company and individual needs.  Key components of program include:  Products, systems, procedures, becoming resourceful for answers and problem resolution.  Coordinate with Cedar Rapids Training Department to ensure utilization of current training resources.  Identify and prioritize training and development needs by working with all TCI Management and/or Supervisors.  Work closely with product development to influence product features and accuracy of product
