AIG's common stock is listed in the U.S. on the New York Stock Exchange and ArcaEx, as well as the stock exchanges in London, Paris, Switzerland and Tokyo.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assist the Director of Accounting Policy in ensuring AIG Retirement Services compliance and documenting of accounting under GAAP and AIG Accounting Policy.Candidate will assist in reviewing significant investment accounting and hedging transactions, implications of new GAAP reporting pronouncements, and determining that proper documentation exists for key adjusting entries and GAAP disclosures. The candidate will become involved in a variety of different areas of accounting, including, but not limited to, partnership accounting (hedge funds, private equities), affordable housing accounting issues, derivative transactions, insurance accounting issues, special purpose entities, etc. Other duties include assisting in the implementation of new accounting standards & policies as they relate to AIG Retirement Services, Inc. (AIGRS). Candidate will be expected to keep current on new Accounting Standards (FASB, EITF, SEC, etc.) as it relates to AIGRS. Candidate will be expected to work with various areas of the organization including Finance, Treasury, Investments, Affordable Housing, Actuarial, AIG Comptrollers Group, etc., and will also assist with special projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS:Professional/Technical training or knowledge: Strong knowledge of accounting and external reporting issues. Excellent organization, PC skills. Strong work ethic, self starter and ability to re-engineer/improve reporting processes. Creative thinker. Ability to communicate/work up, down and across the organization. Clear oral and written communication skills are a must.WORK EXPERIENCE: Requires 3 to 5 years experience in financial reporting process with major insurance, financial services company and/or public accounting firm.
