Senior Data Analyst

Responsible for analyzing, reporting and developing recommendations on data related to complex and varied operational metrics. Typically provides technical assistance to lower level staff..

 

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

·  Creates and maintains databases to track operational performance

·  Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures

·  Develops and analyzes operational performance reports (e.g., for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies

·  Creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports.

·  May require taking operational issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.

·  May make recommendations based upon data analysis.

·  Formulates new internal processes and analytical reports to improve information resources

·  Gathers data from departments; updates periodic reports; analyzes statistical data to identify and correct errors and to evaluate general content

·  Performs review analyses, including accumulation of data, financial modeling, reporting and monitoring of responses

·  Conducting claims analysis

·  Reporting on case management and disease management activities

·  Developing databases related to member and provider reporting

·  Learning and understand the data structures, tables and elements

·  Using database knowledge to ensure reports and statistics contain the correct data

·  Using the desktop tools to gather information, analyze data, and prepare reports

·  Preparing detailed statistical reports that present data as useful information for management, including summaries and extended analysis to present meaningful results for the intended audience

·  Handling special projects and analyses as needed

·  Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

-  Bachelor’s Degree; Graduate Degree and/or significant industry experience

-  5 plus years relevant healthcare experience

-  Experience in a healthcare environment

-  Previous participation on an operational or technology project team

-  Medical claim analysis experience

-  A working understanding of managed care, disease and/or case management

-  Written and verbal communication skills

-  Ability to manage change, working in a self-directed environment, managing frequent and changing customer requirements

-   Good visual presentation skills (e.g., using graphics, charts and tables to present information that can be understood quickly)

-   Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

 

 Computer Skills:

 

-  Ability to use computer applications effectively, especially financial systems, spreadsheets, and related graphics

-  Proficient with MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
