Location: Richmond, VA Reference Code: 0800322 Job Summary: Under administrative direction, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience, to support large capitalization research and closely track industry and company developments in order to advise sales force and clients on stocks within a defined universe. A professional position supporting an Asset Manager in preparing industry and company research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, writing investment-related research reports, and creating/maintaining financial models. May lead major projects, programs or processes with significant business impact. Provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems or needs. Will have extensive interaction with Senior Management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Maintains primary research coverage of multiple companies by conducting specific valuation analysis, synthesizing industry knowledge and company financials to formulate investment recommendations.· Examines current and past performance of companies to construct forward-looking financial models and write comprehensive company and industry reports to be distributed to institutional investors.· Develops and maintains existing relationships with company senior managers, industry contacts, and key institutional accounts.· Develops sophisticated market intelligence and identify trends related to small to mid sized companies in the assigned sector.· Builds a coverage list of approx 15 to 30 companies in the assigned sector(s).· Generates new ideas on undervalued and under followed securities for potential investments.· Tracks, critiques and adjusts investment thesis and price target on current holdings as new information and data become available.· Compiles and analyzes data on assigned industries and companies’ products and/or services.· Performs quantitative analysis of macroeconomic variables on trends and key developments that impact the industry.· Prepares and publishes written industry and company specific reports.· Develops and updates stock ratings and financial models for revenue and income forecasts.· Meets with senior management to communicate buy and sell recommendations for the followed companies.· Communicates research insights to internal sales force and institutional clients. · Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:· Advanced concepts, practices and procedures of finance, accounting, and valuation analysis.· Advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry. · Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations. · Financial markets and products. · Institutional investor landscape.· Industry trends and key executives. Skill in:· Analyzing and interpreting financial statements.· Identifying relationships draw logical conclusions and interpret results for use in decision-making.· Quantitative and analytical financial modeling skills sufficient to assist in the development of corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.· Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentation.· Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets. Ability to:· Analyze companies and industry to develop unique insights and successful opinions on stocks. · Select stocks· Analyze industry specific data and communicate findings to internal sales force and institutional investors.· Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with industry executives and at all organizational levels.· Multi-task and work on a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.· Efficiently manage time and resources in order to overcome quantitative and analytical challenges as they arise.· Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.· Be proactive and demonstrate readiness and ability to initiate action.· Project positive, professional image both internal and with external business contacts.· Implement changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances.· Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed.· Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.· Remain cognizant of our commitment to daily workflow and regulatory compliance during high volume activity.· Convey information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents.· Demonstrate uncompromising adherence to ethical principles. Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:· Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting or Business and five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the financial industry. ~or~· An equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training as approved by Human Resources. Licenses/Certifications:· FINRA Series 7, 86 (or CFA exemption) and 87 License.
