Senior Market Data Engineer

With new initiatives on the horizon, we are seeking to add a Senior Market Data Engineer to our Market Data Infrastructure Team. By joining this team, you will expand your troubleshooting skills while collaborating with other technology team members as well as our external vendors. You will resolve technical issues and monitor resource usage at the server level, identify bottlenecks in the data delivery process and recommend and implement solutions. As our business model continues to expand, you will have the opportunity to further develop your project management skills by participating in the implementation of new market data systems and the consolidation or upgrade of our existing market data infrastructure and procedures. Additionally, you will manage systems integration projects that arise. Your involvement in these projects as a Market Data Engineer will ensure that the market data architecture and distribution systems meet the needs of the business and the infrastructure standard for SIG at an enterprise level. Essential Functions Maintains and monitors MDS infrastructure, including RMDS, The Wombat Feed Handler suite, Bridge ServerWorks on projects to deliver new services or solutions for the market data front end and server based applicationsConsolidates and upgrades market data infrastructure and procedures.Participates in system integration projectsWorks closely with software development in support of in-house market data applicationsWorks closely with vendors and SIG's technology staff troubleshooting problems Maintains existing MDS infrastructure documentation, document new services and deliveriesMonitors resource usage at the server level, identifies bottle necks in the data delivery and recommends solutions as neededMaintains 2nd level support for current permissioning system (DACS) including adding users and services as neededParticipates in periodical reviews of data utilization and inventory managementParticipates in infrastructure testing with new hardware and Operating Systems against existing and new softwareGathers all market data infrastructure information from data delivery via vendor lines to delivery to the business via distribution layer and makes information available to SIG through web Required/Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of market data technologies, delivery platforms and contentExperience with Reuters Triarch (RMDS), Wombat, direct feeds, and other 3rd party systems such as Reuters workstation, Bloomberg, etc.Proficiency in UNIX and LINUX operating systems and support tools, (Windows an advantage) Proficiency with LAN/WAN technologiesScripting knowledge in PERL, CGI, and SHELL Solid and proven project and task management skillsExcellent problem solving and initiative to ensure a smooth running environmentDemonstrated teaming experience with the ability to effectively collaborate and support other technology teams Excellent communication and analytical skillsProven ability to manage tasks that sometimes have a change in priority and manage the tasks accordingly* Apply Salary/Benefits At SIG, our employees are our most valued assets.
