Senior SQL Server DBA
As a Senior SQL Server DBA, you will be a technologist who proactively identifies issues and resolutions and provides solutions that increase and expand enterprise database capabilitiesThe Sr. DBA will be responsible for demonstrating thought leadership in the research, design, and architecture of Microsoft SQL Server database services to provide increasing scalability, availability, reliability, and supportability The Sr. DBA will be responsible for supporting and maintaining real-time mission critical and decision support databasesDaily responsibilities will include configuring, installing and upgrading database server software, maintaining sound backup policies and procedures and SOPs, and performing operational monitoring activities to ensure a stable database environment capable of meeting ongoing business needs Essential Functions Maintain and support databases and applications in a high-transaction environmentProvide user and developer support, and support to DBA associates and Application DBAsTroubleshoot, resolve, and document production problems. Maintain sound backup policies and proceduresArchitect, install, configure, and upgrade database software and related productsPerform routine and customary operational activities to ensure a stable database environmentArchive data from primary databases to archive locationsPerform database data refreshesMonitor vendor releases and schedule necessary patchesInteract with system administrators, application developers, and business process leadersProvide technical leadership for large-scale database projects Required/Preferred Qualifications A minimum of eight (8) years or more of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server Database Administration A thorough understanding of relational databases and SQLA thorough understanding of database backup concepts and proceduresA thorough understanding of Microsoft Operating System - Server 2003 Experience with MS SQL Server 2005 Administration, including management toolsExperience with the MS SQL Clustering architectureExperience with MS SQL database mirroring Experience with Transact SQL language programmingExperience with database communication mechanisms preferred: .NET, ODBC and TCP/IPExperience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycleUnderstanding of logical and physical modeling conceptsKnowledge of new database technologies a plusExcellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and to work well under pressureFinancial services or market knowledge a plusMust enjoy working in a fast-paced teamwork environment and dealing with a variety of people BS degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent work experience * Apply Salary/Benefits At SIG, our employees are our most valued assets.
