To support FMR’s investment management team, we employ over 1200 employees in Investment Operations and Services, Technology, and Human Resources Position Description:The Architecture and Shared Technology Services Division is seeking a software engineer skilled and experienced in Java application development.  The ideal candidate would have practical experience developing J2EE web applications as well as experience with, and understanding of service-oriented architecture.  This individual will be responsible for the analysis, design, coding and testing (unit and integration) of Java application components. Primary Responsibilities:As a Java Developer you will be responsible for: Working closely with our business partners to understand and refine application requirements Participating in formal reviews of application designs, business requirements and code walk-through Participating in design and development of Application Authentication & Authorization System Use state-of-the-art development tools to model, design, implement and debug these applications Helping to define and embrace the use of open source tools and methodologies to help get the job done Facilitating software development processes through technical guidance and leadership Experience a broad spectrum of responsibilities involving multiple business applications and embracing many technologiesEducation and Experience: Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience Minimum of three years of software development experience, preferably in the Financial Services industry Extensive experience in Java programming Development experience with service-oriented architectures and event-driven systems Experienced in implementing object-oriented designs Experience with UNIX and/or Linux deployment platforms Experienced in standard S/W life cycle methodologies Experience writing automated tests using JUnit or similar tools Must be self-motivated and able to deliver finished products within projected timeframes.Skills and Knowledge:  Solid understanding & strong JAVA/J2EE development Skills Extensive hands-on development background WebSphere Application Server LDAP experience Experience in all phases of systems development (FSDM) are required Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, other teams within FMR Co.
