We are seeking a Sr. Tax Accountant to join our team located in Houston, Texas. What you will be doing: In this role, you will be a part of a team responsible for federal and state income tax compliance and tax related financial reporting requirements for the AIG American General group of companies, consisting of 10 insurance companies and their supporting companies. You will assist with research and planning, audit resolutions, and special projects. This is a hands-on position that requires extensive experience with SFAS 109 and other GAAP financial reporting requirements and an in depth knowledge of federal corporation taxation. Time allocations will be approximately 40% financial reporting, 40% compliance, and 20% research, planning and special projects. Overtime will approximate 200 hours per year and will typically be concentrated in the end of each quarter and the month of August.A successful candidate must be efficient and organized and demonstrate exceptional workpaper organization and documentation skills. Most importantly, the candidate must have the desire to learn and develop skills in the area of the taxation of life insurance companies. Managers will train this person in the areas of life insurance taxation and accounting over a period of years, and expose this person to all aspects of the industry. Internal and external training will be provided, and as their skills develop, they will be encouraged to attend industry meetings and conferences. About AIG: American International Group, Inc.
